The Town of Bennett is pleased to share continued progress on Civic Center Park, an exciting community investment that is steadily moving toward completion. Construction remains active, and the project is now entering its final phases as crews work diligently to bring the park’s key features together and prepare the site for safe public use.
The Town recognizes the strong community interest in the new baseball fields and understands the demand for additional sports facilities. These fields were developed to help address long-standing access needs in Bennett, and the Town shares in the community’s excitement to see them open.
At this time, the Town is targeting an early June opening for the baseball fields. However, this timeline remains dependent on final materials and weather conditions, and may shift slightly to ensure the fields are completed safely and to a high standard. The Town is committed to opening the fields as soon as it is appropriate to do so, without compromising safety or long-term field quality.
As part of this project, the Board of Trustees recently approved an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the Bennett Park and Recreation District. Through this partnership, the District will manage youth baseball programming at the new fields, helping to expand recreational opportunities while ensuring organized and sustainable use of the facility.
Civic Center Park is envisioned as a central gathering space for the community, featuring a playground, baseball fields, a concession stand, splash pads, and open areas for residents to relax and connect. This initial phase marks an important milestone, with additional features and future expansion opportunities planned as funding allows.
While anticipation continues to build, the Town asks for the community’s cooperation in staying out of active construction areas. Unauthorized access can create safety risks and may delay the project’s completion.
The Town appreciates the community’s patience and enthusiasm and looks forward to welcoming residents and visitors to Civic Center Park soon. A ribbon-cutting celebration will be announced once an official opening date is confirmed.
