Local fire hazard events pose an increasing threat to communities, ecosystems, and economies across the United States. To combat this dire challenge, the Town of Bennett Staff and Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue created the BeSafe grant program to incorporate a multi-faceted approach, prioritizing community education, assisting eligible property owners and tenants in mitigating equipment in and around their homes, reducing risk from fire, increasing personal and community safety, and aiding in helping creating and maintaining a charming, safe, and welcoming neighborhood in Bennett, Colorado.
The Town will provide up to $500 grants for fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide alarms.
Funding will be allocated to collaborate with the Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue District, Town of Bennett Community Safety Officers and stakeholders, fostering a unified effort in safeguarding our community. Ultimately, this grant will facilitate proactive fire mitigation, enhance community resilience, and preserve natural landscapes, ensuring a safer and more sustainable future for all residents.
The BeSafe grant program will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to annual Town budget appropriation. For a project to qualify, it must receive grant approval before purchasing or construction. Approved recipients will be required to provide estimates, equipment, or scope to be completed with the grant funding and a timeframe. Upon receipt of paid invoices for the completed project, which shall be subject to verification and approval, grant funds will be ACH’d to the recipients for reimbursement. This program does not reimburse sales tax or Town permit and application fees.
BeSafe's intent is to assist recipients with reducing fire risk and mitigation of fire-related hazards by providing a portion of the cost for fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, wildfire protection initiatives using fire-resistant landscaping, and other fire prevention-related equipment and/or services.
