The Board of Trustees has recently allocated additional funds to the Town of Bennett's Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) Rebate Program. As a result, the maximum rebate amount available to eligible residents has increased to $550.
If you have already completed your PRV installation and previously received a rebate, you may be eligible to receive additional funds under the new allocation. We encourage you to contact our team at prv [at] bennett.co.us (prv[at]bennett[dot]co[dot]us) to determine your eligibility and receive further instructions.
Pressure Reducing Valves (PRV) are a type of valve installed in a plumbing system to regulate water pressure and potentially reduce water waste. Pressure reducing valves can save water by automatically reducing the incoming water pressure from the Town street mains and provide a lower, more functional pressure in the home to match fixture and appliance ratings.
High pressure causes undue wear on pipes and fixtures in a home. It can also waste water. Most homes built within the last two decades already include PRV’s for several reasons. First, the individual PRV provides a level of insurance against variable water pressures in the municipal system, thus creating a level of insurance and protection for internal plumbing. Second, the current plumbing codes require PRV’s on homes where the municipal system exceed 80 pounds per square inch of pressure.
The water system in Bennett is managed by the Town. In Bennett, as in other communities, the municipal system delivers pressurized water in pipes to homes that are located at various elevations. In the past 10 years the Town decommissioned the previous elevated water storage tank and built the half-million gallon elevated water storage tank. This new tank helps increase water pressure throughout the Town of Bennett.
As a Town-wide system improvement, the Town will be moving operationally to a one-pressure zone system. A one-pressure zone system will enhance the efficiency and reliability of the Town’s water system while also reducing maintenance of the Town’s water distribution system.
To move to a one-pressure zone system, installations of pressure-reducing valves (PRVs) on certain individual existing water services will be recommended for Bennett residents. The Town of Bennett Utilities team will prepare to make the pressure zone switch by September 2026.
In order to help residents, install PRV for their homes and ensure their plumbing will be safe when the one-pressure zone system comes on line, we will be offering a rebate program for PRV’s installed with a permit for homes in eligible neighborhoods.

To qualify for the rebate, the installation must also include an expansion valve or expansion tank as part of the home’s plumbing system.
If you plan to hire a contractor, please ensure they are properly licensed within the Town of Bennett. We also encourage you to obtain multiple quotes from different contractors before beginning any work. While a permit is still required for the project, the associated fee will be waived.
If you are a homeowner planning to install your own Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV), please note that PRVs and other necessary equipment are available locally at Ace Hardware in Bennett. This provides a convenient option for residents who prefer to handle the installation themselves while still qualifying for the rebate program.
